The RCR, RCP, RCN, RCPath and the ACP have published a briefing document urging the Government to use the upcoming National Cancer Plan for England to kick-start reform of how cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) work. They say this is a critical opportunity to reform cancer decision-making, after past NHS England efforts to trial streamlining MDT meetings (MDTMs) suggested this would create fairer access to the NHS’s world-class cancer treatment options, give clinicians more time with patients, and save costs.  The document is here, and an accompanying press release issued by the RCR here.
