Careers & Recruitment
Clinical and academic job adverts for medical oncologists.
Clinical jobs tend to be advertised at NHS Jobs and BMJ Careers but we will mention upcoming posts here if requested.
University of Sheffield Senior Clinical Research Fellowships
Via substantial funding (£4.5 million) from Yorkshire Cancer Research, the University of Sheffield is launching a major new initiative to encourage and support the appointment of new senior clinical academics in Sheffield. This year and next year, up to 10 senior 5-year fellowships will be awarded, of which most will be for clinically qualified candidates at or approaching consultant level. The posts are being advertised in the April 21st edition of the BMJ, for further information here.
The posts will be supported through senior clinical staff in Sheffield and will carry generous start-up funding of up to £100k, with guaranteed permanent posts after 5 years for successful Fellows. We are especially keen to attract external as well as internal candidates to these posts.
This is a rare opportunity which is flexible enough to cover most areas of medical and clinical oncology and we are keen to maximise the publicity amongst all clinicians who might be interested. I would be very grateful if you could publicise this opportunity as widely as possible on the ACP e-mail list (including to more senior colleagues who may know of possible candidates) and also on the ACP website. If you are able to do this, please could you include me in the information which goes out.
For any queries or approaches regarding these positions please contact email@example.com.
Pan-London Cancer Research Fellowships

This has London-based support from Biomedical Research Centres, both Cancer Vanguard delivery systems, RM Partners, UCLH Cancer Collaborative, and South East London Accountable Cancer Network (SEL ACN). Details of 25 separate projects and how to apply for further information can be found here.
Three MD(Res) posts in GI Cancers at the Royal Marsden /ICR
An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for one of three fully funded MD (Res) positions supported by the GI Unit at the Royal Marsden in conjunction with the Institute of Cancer Research starting later this year. The candidates will be expected to drive forward existing and new clinical and translational research projects in GI cancers including translational immuno-oncology studies. These projects will form the basis of the candidate's MD(Res) thesis and degree award and are expected to be completed within two years with potential to extend to three years. Successful candidates will develop expertise in clinical trials methodology, setting up/running single and multicentre clinical trials, devising and conducting translational research encompassing immuno-oncology as applied to GI cancers and critical thinking. This research period will provide invaluable personal development to those considering future careers as clinical researchers in Oncology.
If interested please look at the detailed job description in the link below and/or contact Dr Naureen Starling or Dr Ian Chau for an informal discussion.
