Pan-London Cancer Research Fellowships

Three MD(Res) posts in GI Cancers at the Royal Marsden /ICR

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for one of three fully funded MD (Res) positions supported by the GI Unit at the Royal Marsden in conjunction with the Institute of Cancer Research starting later this year. The candidates will be expected to drive forward existing and new clinical and translational research projects in GI cancers including translational immuno-oncology studies. These projects will form the basis of the candidate's MD(Res) thesis and degree award and are expected to be completed within two years with potential to extend to three years. Successful candidates will develop expertise in clinical trials methodology, setting up/running single and multicentre clinical trials, devising and conducting translational research encompassing immuno-oncology as applied to GI cancers and critical thinking.  This research period will provide invaluable personal development to those considering future careers as clinical researchers in Oncology.

Locum Consultant in Medical Oncology - with an interest in Hepatobiliary and Neuroendocrine Cancer to support clinical service and research

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is an international leader in cancer research and development and is the largest single site cancer treatment centre of its kind in Europe. We are looking for a locum consultant with a specialist interest in Hepatobiliary and Neuroendocrine Cancer (HPB/NET) to support clinical service and research.

The appointee will join a team of 33 Medical Oncology Consultants at The Christie. The successful applicant will become an active member of the HPB/NET Multidisciplinary Disease Group, currently 3 consultants, which has an international reputation in the treatment of NET (accredited as a Centre of Excellence by the European NET Society (ENETS) in 2011, re-accredited for three years in 2014. Care and treatment will be delivered in the outpatient, ambulatory and inpatient settings from the main site in Withington. The existing service has an international reputation in the treatment of NET (accredited as a Centre of Excellence by the European NET Society (ENETS) in 2011, re-accredited for three years in 2014).

The new consultant will also contribute to the very active clinical research programme (predominantly phase II/III) with close links to basic research laboratories in the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute and the Wolfson Molecular Imaging Centre.

The successful applicant will either be appointed to the Locum Consultant scale (full-time equivalent £76,001 - £102,465 per annum) as appropriate depending on experience. There is no-call commitment attached to this post.
